Schleswig-Holstein
After the keel had been laid in May 2011, the double-ended ferry was named in December of the same year. Schleswig-Holstein has since been operating between the mainland port of Dagebüll and Wyk auf Föhr.
Schleswig-Holstein was the first of two double-ended ferries that NEPTUN WERFT built for Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum (WDR). The sister ships can travel in both directions thanks to their design and propellers on both sides – they don’t have to perform any turning manoeuvres at port. They’re the same size and width, and they can accommodate the same number of passengers, but the younger Norderaue has a greater vehicle capacity.
The atmosphere on board Schleswig-Holstein is modern, bright and comfortable. Its salon deck offers seating in front of large panoramic windows. The ship has also been awarded the “Blauer Engel” environmental seal for its eco-friendly operations.
