Sea Trials of Brilliance of the Seas successful

Delivery in advance of contractual date

Papenburg, 21.06.2002 - The conclusion of the sea trials of Brilliance of the Seas in the North Sea was a big success. During the second sea trials also the speed test was performed in which the vessel reached a speed of more than 25 kts. All tests performed during the sea trials were more than successful and met with complete satisfaction of the shipyard and the Owners. On Thursday, 20 June 2002, at 6.00 o'clock in the morning, Brilliance of the Seas made port in Eemshaven as planned. Then the vessel was inspected by divers, and it was found that a net had got caught in the starboard propeller. It was removed by the divers. The findings from the underwater inspection have shown that it is presently not necessary to dock the ship at Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven. But to be absolutely sure, Brilliance will go on a short sea trial on Saturday night, 22 June 2002. Following this trial run, a final decision will be made regarding docking. It has been agreed with the Owners, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) that Brilliance of the Seas will be delivered ahead of schedule on 5 July 2002.
