Papenburg, 09.04.2025 –

MEYER WERFT has celebrated the start of construction of the next Excel-class cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line with a symbolic cutting ceremony. Delivery of the fourth ship, which will be named Carnival Festivale, is scheduled for 2027.

"Following the Carnival Jubilee, the new ship marks another milestone in our long-standing partnership with Carnival Cruise Line. We are delighted to begin construction of this fourth ship in the series. Guests can again expect some special features," says Bernd Eikens, CEO and Managing Director of MEYER WERFT.

"Carnival Festivale will continue the tradition of adding innovative new features to our fleet, from music themed areas to an extensive new water park concept we have planned for this ship," said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line. "Each of its three sister ships has been a great success and we are delighted to be working with MEYER WERFT again to build on the revolutionary Excel platform and create unique experiences for our guests."

The new ship will also be powered by liquefied natural gas. With a length of 344 meters and 180,000 gross tons, the ship will offer space for more than 6,400 guests. The Carnival Festivale will set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida, together with its sister ship Mardi Gras.
