Largest passenger vessel ever built in Germany to set out for its first cruise soonPapenburg, 09.03.2001 - The new cruise vessel from the MEYER WERFT Shipyard of Papenburg, Germany, the 90090 GT Radiance of the Seas, was delivered to Royal Caribbean International (RCI) on Friday, 9th March. Radiance of the Seas is the first luxury cruise liner to have been built by the Papenburg shipyard for Royal Caribbean. This newbuilding will further strengthen the US cruise line's leading position in the cruise industry. In addition to a very slim, yacht like design with many glazed fronts the luxury liner's interior offers a variety of special features and great comfort. Almost 80% of all cabins are outside cabins. About 75% of these cabins are with private balcony. The novel turbine plant, the podded drive, state-of-the-art stage technology and interactive communications systems provide comfort, entertainment and safety of the latest technical standards. After delivery the Radiance of the Seas will leave the Dutch port of Eemshaven via Amsterdam heading for Miami (USA). The naming ceremony of the new cruise ship will be held in Fort Lauderdale (USA) on 6th April 2001. From April on the ship will be cruising from Alaska to Hawaii, in the Pacific Northwest and in the Caribbean. A further three vessels of this series for Royal Caribbean International will be completed by the end of 2003.
