Papenburg, 20.06.2005 - The new, 93,000-gt cruise ship Norwegian Jewel for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) will leave Meyer Werft for the North Sea on 25th June, 2005. The transit down the river Ems will take place in one go with support by the Ems barrier.

In the following please find the time schedule which is subject to wind and weather conditions and may vary accordingly:

Saturday, 25th June 2005: approx. 7.00 pm - Ship passing the lock in Papenburg approx. 10.00 pm - Passing the "Friesenbrücke" in Weener

Sunday, 26th June 2005: approx. 1.00 am - Passing "Jann-Berghaus-Brücke" in Leer approx. 4.30 am - Passing the Ems barrier approx. 5.00 am - Passing Emden approx. 10.00 am - Arrival in Eemshaven

The Norwegian Jewel will travel down the river Ems backwards, as did many previous MEYER WERFT newbuildings. She will operate her own propulsion system, but will be supported by two tugs. Along with Norwegian Jewel, the container ship MS Barmbek will go down the Ems to Emden, from where sea trials will be conducted. Norwegian Jewel will be berthed in the Dutch port of Eemshaven, from where she will go on sea trials and where, after successful completion of the sea trials, provision of hotel supplies and performance of crew training, she will be handed over to NCL in early August 2005.
