As part of its Christmas campaign “Donations instead of presents”, the shipyard has been calling on partners and suppliers since 2015 to forego Christmas gifts for the shipyard's employees and instead support aid organizations. The “Herzkinder OstFriesland e.V.” association supports families who are diagnosed with a heart defect in their unborn child during pregnancy. Doctors can refer to this association and provide the parents with experienced advice.
Since 1993, the “Help for Children in Need” association has been ensuring that children from war and crisis zones in Africa and Asia - mainly Afghanistan and Yemen - can be treated at the hospital in Papenburg.
