Mariella

Mariella was constructed at the Finnish shipyard, now MEYER TURKU, in 1985. The car and passenger ferry was built for SF Line AB. Its sister ship, Cinderella, was delivered to the Finnish shipping company four years later.

In terms of its deadweight tonnage and passenger capacity, Mariella was considered the world’s largest ferry when it was delivered. There are now much larger ferries, but Mariella is still in service. It’s always operated between Helsinki and Stockholm – it holds the record for the longest uninterrupted service on the same route. It’s also worth mentioning the fact that Mariella has a 1A Super ice class rating, which means it can also be used on routes with extreme ice conditions.
